Dr. Sun is an internationally recognized expert in the fields of natural product chemistry, drug formulation and drug discovery. He is an inventor/co-inventor of 6 patents, and authored/co-authored more 40 scientific publications. An example of his scientific publications is:
Dr. Sun gained his first hands-on experience in natural product chemistry when he was a graduate student from 1989-1994 at McMaster University of Canada. He worked with Professor Paul Harrison on polyketide biosynthesis and biomimetic synthesis, published 6 scientific articles.
Dr. Sun had his postdoctoral training for 3 years (1994-1997) at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He worked with Professor Joseph Piccirilli on nucleic acid natural products, coauthored 7 scientific publications in journals such as NATURE , Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences, NATURE STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY, Biochemistry, etc.
Dr. Sun worked at Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical R & D, Raritan, New Jersey from 1997-1999 under the direct supervision of Senior Vice President, Dr. Bill Murray. Within 2 years, He published 5 scientific articles and filed 2 patents on drug discovery.
